Bullying Summit
Irmo Middle School
Tuesday,
January 25 at 6:30pm

There's been a rise in trends of bullying over the past few years. Media attention of this has grown, bringing increased attention to the issue. Technological advances provide new venues (cellular technology, internet, messaging, etc) for bullying. Parents and community members are appalled by the images and tales of bullying they see and hear about from media as well as within the community. They want to know specifically how School District Five is addressing the issue. Thus, this event will: define bullying (what it is and what it is NOT), provide district policies & procedures for bullying, explain where bullying occurs, explain the consequences of bullying as well as the affects on the victim, and provide an opportunity for audience members to provide questions for a panel consisting of educators, students, and administrators.

Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Students in the Midlands are abusing Rx and OTC drugs more so than marijuana. Parents need to lock up medications as well as periodically inventory all meds. One key action we all can do is dispose of unused, unneeded medications. The Community Roundtable, along with other partners are hosting the first annual Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Rx and OTC take-back program, hosted by CVS. Click here to learn more....
